July 27th, 2010

Finished the section 4 presentation for Travis this morning. The video worked fine after i downloaded it a few more times (?!?!). I have NO clue what happened to suddenly make it work, but I'm glad it did.

I have been toying with ideas for the BeSmart presentation lately - Thank you James for being patient with my many projects! Here are a few: Starting with my original and showing some play with color, lay out, etc. We will not be using the picture of these students. We're waiting for pictures from Mark to use in their place.

July 26, 2010

I have never been good at keeping a journal, a blog, or anything like unto it. I did a pretty darn good job at the beginning of my internship - keeping up with it almost daily ( I say almost - because some days I went back and would do "yesterdays" and "todays" in one day). However, since the 4th of July - I have been quite off on journaling this whole experience. Here's another dive into journal keeping.

Today I did a full presentation for Travis. I struggled again with the video download and upload into Powerpoint - which is frustrating, I thought I had nailed the problem. Apparently I haven't. Tomorrow that is on the top of my list of things to do.

July 19th - 22nd, 2010

This week was spent working on presentations for Travis, the BeSmart website design (a little), the BeSmart presentation, and the two articulation presentations. It has been eventful to say the least and I tracked down a new video for BYU to use as part of their presentation. It is a lot more appropriate for all audiences, I feel. I met with Kirk a few times to run through things and have been e-mailing back and forth with people from different schools, arranging, updating, and cleaning their portions of the presentation. My goal was to have the presentations sent out on Wednesday for each school to look through, BUT - a few hold ups prevented that. As it turns out - I was finally able to e-mail all three presentations to each school on Friday afternoon. Whew! It sure does help when people follow through with what they say they will do. It's funny ( and a wee bit annoying) to experience the effects of someone taking more time than is expected or asked to do that.
oh well. I guess I do my fair share of that as well. Just something to think on.

July 14th - 16th, 2010

From Wednesday until Friday - I mostly worked on the Besmart presentation and the articulation conference. A rep from LDSBC came in to review the work we've done on their portions of the articulation conference. That was good. He talked a little about doing some free-lance work for LDSBC in the future. That made me feel really good to know that he would consider me for some big projects. We'll see what happens.

July 13, 2010

I FIGURED IT OUT!!! ( the video that wasn't loading correctly) - I should probably rephrase that. I didn't figure out what was wrong - I just tried it one more time and it worked. lol. I wish I knew what the original problem was so I could avoid it in the future. Nevertheless - the video made it into the presentation about 40 minutes before my deadline! That was cutting it a little too close! whew!

July 12, 2010

Today was Psychology presentation again - I loaded a bunch of videos for Travis and have three of the four taken care of. The fourth one I have downloaded MANY times and it still won't load up on the powerpoint the way I want it to. It will open and then give me a white screen. Hopefully I can figure it out tomorrow!

July 9, 2010

Worked on Travis's Presentation again. I met with Kirk and Tom to go over the articulation presentations and the Besmart presentation. We went through and made some good changes and edited the content for time. Added a few t-shirts to the presentations and I think it's really coming along!

July 8, 2010

Started on Travis's 2nd section of his Psychology class. Had meetings about what information he wants where. It's good to meet with the person you are doing work for often so that you are both on the same page. I can not say it enough: COMMUNICATION IS KEY!

June 7, 2010

Finished writing questions for the CES Articulation Conference. It needed to be something that invited the viewer to learn something that wasn't in the presentation. I think I did a pretty good job:

July 6, 2010

Back to the BeSmart website again! This time we decided it would take too much time to do the WHOLE re-furbish of the BeSmart website... but an update is still needed. We talked about options for the Church Schools. This is what the original looks like right now.....
Today we came up with something like this:

July 2, 2010

I will be out of town today - my husband and I will be taking Friday- Monday off to go to a Family Reunion in California!

July 1, 2010

I can't believe it's July already! What in the WORLD?! So my projects for today consisted of fixing up the presentation for Travis - adding more videos and text. Kirk asked me to add a few more things to the articulation presentation. I will add 2 "trivia" pages to each school.

June 30th, 2010

Worked on the Psychology presentation for Travis. Downloaded some software that allowed me to download movies off of youtube. I wasn't able to import those into Powerpoint, so I had to down load another prgram that would transfer those movie files into MPG files... THEN I'd open those in Windows Movie Maker and edit/transfer them into WMV files. (whew!)
Here is a video I worked with: ( hehehe)

June 29th, 2010

Started working on a presentation for Travis. He will be teaching a psychology class for a university in SLC, and needed me to put together a presentation for his class. We met for about an hour and reviewed his material. He will be using several videos- which makes me excited because I haven't used movie editing software much.
